Understanding Your Equipment

If you are unsure what a specific item is, here is a quick guide:

  • Kickboard: Used for isolating leg work.
  • Short Fins: Used to improve ankle flexibility and leg kick strength.
  • Snorkel: A center-mounted snorkel used to focus on head position and stroke technique.
  • Pull Buoy: A foam float held between the legs to aid in body position and isolate arm work.
  • Hand/Finger Paddles: Used to develop strength and improve the 'feel' of the water. Note: Your coach will advise on the correct size.
  • Band (Rubber/Tubing): Used to tie the ankles together to isolate the core and arm stroke.
